A day out bushwalking in Australia's Blue Mountains National Park turned into tragedy for a Singaporean teaching student, who died after plunging down a waterfall yesterday afternoon.
Cheng Shi Min had been hiking with her Australian boyfriend Harry Yendle, her father and another family friend when she slipped and fell 20 metres down. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that she was peering over the edge of the top of the falls when she lost her footing.
Yendle rushed down to her to find Cheng lying face down in a shallow pool of water. They tried in vain to pull her out of the freezing water for about 20 minutes.
