Last year, Sarawakian Kho Jabing was granted a stay of execution less than 24 hours before his final walk to the gallows — a temporary reprieve after his lawyer filed a criminal motion.
The news was a much welcomed one to the Malaysian unit of Amnesty International and other activists fighting for clemency.
Today however, the outlook is grim. The 31-year-old was denied in his bid to commute his death sentence; a decision unanimously made by the five-judge Court of Appeal. Kho's date of execution will be decided by President Tony Tan, TODAY reports.
