Two teams from Nanyang Technological University kicked butt at the four-day Shell Eco-marathon Asia event held recently in Manila.
Competing were 117 teams from 17 schools and universities from around the world. The challenge: Design and build the most energy-efficient car.
NTU's two teams — E-Drive and 3D-Printed Car — collectively brought home six wins. Four of these were off-track awards for technical innovation and safety, and communications and vehicle design.
On track, the E-Drive placed third in the Prototype Battery Electric category by achieving 425km/kwh, while 3D-Printed Car got bronze in the Urbanconcept Battery Electric category by achieving 77km/kwh.
