According to a report by professional services network Deloitte, Singapore is counted among the top five countries in the region most vulnerable to cyberattacks. That's bad news, especially since the country's heavily dependent on Internet-based interactions and transactions.
The Asia-Pacific Defence Outlook 2016 counts Singapore to be part of the 'Cyber Five' alongside South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Japan — all of whom appear nine times more vulnerable to offensive manoeuvres made through the web. The vulnerability index used data such as the national rate of mobile cell subscribers, number of secure internet servers, fixed broadband subscribers as well as the rate of internet usage.
