In typical Singaporean fashion, anything controversial and potentially offensive gets struck out of the books — and it'll be the same for the Queen of Pop's first ever concert here.
Initially prohibited from even performing here back in 1993, Madonna will finally be making her Singapore debut next week. Even so, it'll be rated R18 due to sexually suggestive content. According to the Media Development Authority (MDA), Madonna's segment where she sings "Holy Water" is disallowed — a fact that has been confirmed by the concert's investor as well as organisers Live Nation Lushington.
In a statement made last month, MDA deemed "Holy Water" to be a breach into religiously sensitive content, and the organisers have to comply to the license to allow the show to go on.
