Over $1 million in fake claims — that's how much a man and 28 of his fellow conmen managed to scam from insurance companies over a two-year period. 37-year-old Rahmat Mohd has since been found guilty of his role in scamming insurance companies after admitting to 25 charges of conspiring to cheat them. He was just the first of 29 individuals currently being charged in relation to the case, TODAY reports.
Rahmat however was only the right-hand man to the alleged mastermind of the syndicate between May 2011 and October 2013. His tasks in the syndicate would include recruiting phantom drivers as passengers, engineer traffic accidents at secluded locations and remind car owners to fill in statements to claim motor accident insurance.
