Oh dear, Pulau Ubin's residents are in a bit of a pickle now — the quality of water from the island's wells have been classified as unsafe. According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), the quality of water drawn from wells of Pulau Ubin has deteriorated. Well water is used by the hundreds of villagers living on the small island in the north east of Singapore for their daily needs, and NEA has advised them to use bottled water or at least boil them for a minute.
Food vendors on the island are also affected by the deterioration of well water. "To further safeguard public health, all retail food establishments at Pulau Ubin are now required to use bottled water, PUB water from the mainland, or boil the water drawn from the wells for at least one minute continuously before using it for preparation of food and drinks for sale.
