A daring heist on a Mustafa Centre money changer executed by four South Americans managed to purloin them over $120,000 in foreign currencies earlier this year. They were however swiftly caught while trying to make a run for it to Hong Kong, The Straits Times reports.
Three Mexicans — 35-year-old Chavez Gomez Joel, 59-year-old Salgado Sida Jesus Alfonso and 30-year-old Olvera Ochoa Laura Daniela — had conspired with 46-year-old Chilean Petrovich Petrovich Yobano to come to Singapore solely to carry out the heist. A fifth accomplice, 38-year-old Martinez Moreno Jesus Manuel, also went on the flight with them.
