No love for street bike racers here. Two bicycle enthusiasts have been charged in court yesterday for organising and promoting and illegal race without the proper authorisation by the police.
Both men had allegedly arranged eight iterations of their HolyCrit bicycle race at various locations in Singapore, The Straits Times reports. The races were first organised in September 2013, with the last one taking place in November last year.
29-year-old bike shop owner Eric Khoo Shui Yan was identified as the main organizer, while 39-year-old project manager Zulkifli Awab was said to be the co-organizer. They were arrested following the last edition of HolyCrit.
They both face 16 charges each, including promoting the competition without police approval and conducting the races without permits.
Reports claimed that participants in HolyCrit raced on the streets at speeds exceeding 40kmh, with no brakes. Dayum.
