A group of four almost made away with a bag filled with $120,000 worth of foreign currencies, which they stole from a moneychanger counter in the vicinity of Syed Alwi Road.
Police received the report on Aug 12 and launched an extensive investigation, finding out that they've escaped to Malaysia. With the assistance of the Royal Malaysia Police, the four were arrested and were extradited back to Singapore last Saturday with $15,000 in different currencies seized as well.
The three men and the woman have been charged in court for theft in dwelling with common intention, which could get each of them jail time of up to seven years and a fine.
