The recent spate of bombings in Bangkok has certainly become a cause for worry, especially for tourists still in the vicinity — and it should be. The explosions that rocked the Thai capital have so far taken the lives of 20 people (including one Singaporean woman) as well as injuring at least 125.
In light of the alarming situation, Singapore Airlines (SIA), Jetstar Asia and Tigerair have announced that they'll be waiving fees for customers intending to change flights to and from Bangkok, Channel NewsAsia reports.
For SIA customers, the waiver is valid for tickets issued on or before Aug 18 for any arriving or departing Bangkok flights, up to Sep 17. Those using the waiver should arrange for a new trip by Oct 30 as well.
Jetstar Asia customers will be able to make changes to their bookings over the next week, with change fees and fare differences waived.
Tigerair have also announced that there will be no penalties implemented should any of their customers scheduled to fly to Bangkok between Aug 18 and Sept 17 want to make changes to their flight date and destination.
Meanwhile in Thailand, authorities have identified one suspect of the bombing through CCTV footage. A manhunt has since been launched for a yellow-shirted 'Backpack Man'.
