You don't need to be a Maths whiz to know that the fastest way from points A to Z is not on an SMRT or SBS bus, so it's good to know that there is now a mobile app called Beeline that offers commuters a shorter travelling time.
It does this by offering routes-on-demand to motorists and offering a pre-booking service.
There are no more than five stops for each route.
Beeline, developed by the Infocomm Development Authority and Land Transport Authority, was first launched as website a few months ago, where it asked users for suggested routes. "The first experimental bus routes had started running on Monday, with four routes from Marine Parade, Pasir Ris, Punggol and Tampines to the Central Business District (CBD) during the morning peak period," reports Channel NewsAsia. "There is also one route from the CBD back to Marine Parade during the evening peak period. At least 10 more routes are expected in the coming months."
Prices range from $4 to $6 — still cheaper than a taxi! — and private bus companies involved are Bus-Plus, Aedge Holdings and Commute Solutions Group.
