In Mar 2010, Chang Lai Huat was allegedly punched in the face by 33-year-old Malaysian Elangovan Gopalan, who also forcibly took $432,000 from the victim in Woodlands. It was, literally, daylight robbery.

Gopalan, who is believed to be part of a group who assaulted Chang, denied the charge.
"The accused will be remanded for one week to facilitate ongoing investigations to identify the other suspects who were involved in the robbery," reports Channel NewsAsia.
Gopalan faces anywhere from five to 20 years in jail and at least 12 strokes of the cane if found guilty. He will re-appear in court on Aug 12.
