KOI bubble teaBasic bitches and other regular addicts of KOI Café's bubble tea in Singapore heaved a sigh of relief when the massively popular franchise assured that the ingredients they use have been tested to be safe for consumption.  Their announcement comes after multiple reports allege that 50 Lan — their affiliated beverage chain in Taiwan — have been using honey tainted with the banned antibiotic tetracycline, which is not allowed for use on bees. The China Post reports that test conducted by 50 Lan found that their custom-made honey products from a Yunlin County company contained excessive levels of of tetracycline, prompting them to report it to health authorities.  Though Singapore's KOI Café imports its honey from Taiwan, bubble tea lovers will not need to worry as they've been tested to be safe by the authorities here, Channel NewsAsia reports.  Side effects of tetracycline may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, mouth sores, black hairy tongues, headaches, sore throat and even rectal discomfort. Good to know.  Photo: Kyle Lam via Flickr
