Oppositions parties quickly mobilise plans for upcoming General ElectionAs new electoral boundaries have been carved out (again) whether you like it or not, the expectations of general elections around the corner have gotten opposition parties in a frenzy; all very eager to try and displace the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) out of their seats in parliament.  Of course, they'd very much like to repeat and probably expand on the devastating blow experienced by the PAP in the last election back in 2011, when they saw a 60.14 percent swing against them, the lowest since independence.  After managing to snag Aljunied GRC, Worker's Party (WP) wants to keep their momentum going, announcing plans to contest five group representation constituency (GRCs) and five single-member constituency (SMCs), The Straits Times reports.  Other than their current strongholds in Aljunied GRC, Hougang SMC and Punggol East SMC, the party will also contest in East Coast, Jalan Besar, Nee Soon and Marine Parade GRCs, as well as Fengshan, MacPherson and Sengkang West SMCs.    (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk')); Secretary General of The Workers' Party Mr Low Thia Khiang addresses the media today, and indicated the party's interest... Posted by The Workers' Party on Saturday, 25 July 2015 Meanwhile, the Singapore Democratic Party have been out and about at Bukit Batok yesterday morning, where they've announced their intention to contest in the Bukit Batok SMC. TODAY reports that the party is very invested in the area, especially since it was reintroduced into the electoral boundaries (previously it was under Jurong GRC).  Yesterday also saw other opposition parties Singaporeans First (SingFirst) and National Solidarity Party (NSP) on a walkabout in Tampines. NSP have also invited other opposition parties to a meeting this Friday to talk it out ensure that every seat is contested, and avoid any split in opposition votes.  Photo: Worker's Party Facebook page
