The four koalas on loan from Australia are known as Chan, Pelita, Idalia and Paddle, but the Singapore Zoo wants to give the public a chance to pick Singaporean nicknames for them.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the Zoo announced on Thursday that the idea is to have the koalas "blend in fully with locals ahead of the SG50 Jubilee Weekend with new Singapore names befitting their individual characteristics".
Three nicknames will be shortlisted for each koala, who will then pick their own nicknames with a "paw of approval" in a special ceremony at their exhibit. The superstars have been a hit with visitors since their unveiling in late May and are currently on a six-month loan from Australia to commemorate 50 years of friendship between the two nations.
Here's to hoping that these furry creatures will consider relocating here for good.
