Featuring more than 30 species of herbs, spices and edible plants, the new Spice Garden at the Istana will be open to the public on Friday in celebration of Hari Raya Puasa.
Visitors may choose to do the guided nature walk or a guided tour of the Istana main building. Those on the nature walk can learn more about the flora and fauna through the Istana Garden Walk mobile application, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Those on the guided tour of the Istana main building will be able to view selected function rooms as well as gifts from foreign dignitaries to the President and the Prime Minister.
The public can also participate in various activities such as performances by Nan Chiau High School’s Wind Orchestra, face painting and balloon sculpting. Thanks to Wildlife Reserves Singapore, visitors will also get to see various birds.
The open house starts from 8.30am till 6pm and visitors may enter the Istana through the main gate at Orchard Road. Unfortunately entry is only free for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents; other visitors will have to pay S$2.
