When was the last time you were at Gillman Barracks? We know, right. Things could be looking up for the arts hub, despite being recently handicapped by the exit of a few galleries from Block 47 Malan Road that had complained of very low foot traffic because management was not doing anything to promote the space. Well, that's about to change now. Hopefully. Economic Development Board, one of Gillman's co-developers, will launch a pop-up programme for Southeast Asian galleries and artists who don't need to sign up for a long-term lease, according to TODAY. These galleries — who find Singapore rental prices exhorbitant — will have options to stay for only one or two months. More dining outlets are set to open, too. The report says Handlebar, a former tenant when the area was still Gillman Village, will open by December. Art, food and drinks. Those are three good-enough reasons to be back, yeah?   Done reading?
