Scam alert: Callers pretending to be government workers asking for money

Call CentreWe've all received random phone calls from people trying to sell us something — an insurance policy, a zero-interest loan, a massage subscription. Those are nothing compared to the latest round of scam callers. "Police have received several reports from members of the public who received phone calls from various government agencies hotline," according to an advisory Singapore Police Force posted to Facebook."The callers claimed to be government officials or civil servants such as immigration officer, police officer or court officer and made requests for money transfers or credit card details," it continued. Police advised the public to ignore such calls, not to transfer any money to the caller, and to report the case to the them via 1800-255 0000 or 999.
