Once again, the title for best seaport in Asia this year went to Singapore, maddening fierce rivals Hong Kong and Shanghai for the 27th time.
Organised by freight and logistics publication Asia Cargo News, this year's Asia Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) was held in Hong Kong yesterday, honouring the best in the industry.
The Port of Singapore emerged triumphant once again in the votes cast by readers of Asia Cargo News, for leading performance in cost competitiveness, container shipping-friendly fee regime, provision of suitable container shipping-related infrastructure and other logistical achievements.
As always, the other finalists in the category are the Port of Hong Kong and Port of Shanghai.
The Port of Singapore remains to be one of the most favoured stops in the world, and it looks to carry on that way — the latest developments in the Pasir Panjang Terminal would mean that Singapore will be able to handle a total of 50 million cargo containers annually by the end of 2017.
