Perverts will be perverts. In his attempt to molest a 23-year-old domestic helper, an elderly man posed as a doctor in order to carry out the depraved deed.
72-year-old Chia Fook Kun has since been sentenced to a year in jail on one count of outrage of modesty, The Straits Times reports.
Working part-time for a maid agency, Chia would at times host maids in his flat along Jalan Minyak when required, and had been hosting his victim in his flat after she was arrested for theft. Her agency arranged for Chia to bail her out and take custody of her during the ongoing investigations.
It was during this time that Chia convinced her that he was a doctor by showing some photos and certificates on his computer, and claimed that she was in poor health after pretending to examine her using a blood pressure device and a stethoscope.
He then made her go to the bedroom and take off her shirt and bra before applying some cream on her breasts. While unbuttoning her jeans, Chia was interrupted by a phone call and went to answer it. The maid then left the room after dressing herself and made a police report later on.
In court, the prosecution called for a sentence of a year, noting that Chia was also convicted of outrage of modesty back in 2001 and was jailed for 15 months. The "significant degree of deception and premeditation" also proved to be his undoing.
