We're glad that we'll be seeing more of Culture Kitchen, Singaporean do-gooder Adrianna Tan's series of pop-up gatherings that bring locals and migrant workers closer through food.
She started the project in 2013 when anti-foreigner sentiments were strong in the Little Red Dot. She invited guests from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia and Singapore, and fed everyone briyani.
The next two installments highlighted Myanmar and Pakistan food.
This week Culture Kitchen received $10,000 in cash and $10,000 in flights from Jetstar's Flying Start Programme."The grant will help kickstart our events and increase our impact. We aim to take our events into the heartlands of Singapore this year," says Tan.
She is also looking foward to setting up education funds for foreign nationals and their children in Singapore, and use the grant to provide flights to low-income Myanmar nationals in need of aid to return home.
