Obsessives who wish to see more of the late Lee Kuan Yew's items and paraphernalia displayed should be creaming their pants right now — his family have donated his furniture and personal effects to the National Heritage Board (NHB).
Channel NewsAsia reports that the items from 38 Oxley Road — home of the late statesman — have been passed on to the NHB as a Deed of Gift by the executors and trustees of the Lee Kuan Yew's estate: his daughter Lee Wei Ling and son Lee Hsien Yang. Well they can't exactly cart his items to the Salvation Army, can they?
Officially signed on Monday, the items comprises all the furniture from the dining room, the study room, work area desks as well as the clothing he regularly wore during special occasions.
The statement made by Lee's estate explained that it was only appropriate that some of his items of historic importance be donated to the NHB for the people of Singapore.
NHB — who must be delirious with obtaining artefacts of significant importance for free — are planning a major public exhibition at the SG50 Tribute Gallery sometime in August of September this year.
