Being at the hospital can be a depressing affair, but despair no longer as MusicFest@SGH Campus returns for its third year on June 19, bringing live music to hospitalised patients for the whole day. Once again, the event will see the entire SGH Campus transform into a huge performance space as over 250 artists fill every nook and cranny with a diverse catalogue of musical numbers.
Bed-ridden patients don’t have to worry about missing out on the fun as various artists will be visiting the wards to surprise them with personal performances. Among the well-known Singaporean artists are television personality Hossan Leong and former Singapore Idol contestant Daphne Khoo, who will be serenading patients with songs from a range of different genres and languages. A finale concert hosted by actress Karen Tan will also feature big names such as Sebastian Tan as Broadway Beng as well as Cat Ong & Friends who will be rocking much-loved tunes from the Beatles.
MusicFest@SGH Campus was conceived with the belief that music has the ability to heal, uplift the spirit and create a speedy road to recovery. To the sceptics out there, never doubt the healing power of music because not all the best remedies hail from Big Pharma. Everyone is welcome to catch this free event on June 19 from 10am to 8pm, but performances in the wards will be restricted to patients only. This might be the only time that people may voluntarily check themselves into the hospital.
