Videos like this make us clench our fist and shake it angrily at the sky.
In BuzzFeed's latest "Americans try..." video series, four random people were given four Singaporean hakwer favourites to eat for the first time: char kway teow, chendol, laksa and Hainanese chicken rice.
Their response?
According to one guy, the laksa was "very sweet, much sweeter than American soup" while the Hainanese chicken was the "blandest chicken" he's ever had.
Another one thought that was sticky rice that came with the chicken.
The chendol, which was served with melted ice and the ingredients not mixed together, was "like drinking maple syrup".
Erm, someone send these guys a care package.
