Fine and driving ban for motorist whose sick child was killed during his reckless driveThere are few things 'worser' to a parent than the regret of not being able ensure the safety of their children. On top of the fact that he has to live with the knowledge that he was responsible for the death of his daughter, 30-year-old Alfred Ng Hon Lum was ordered to pay an $800 fine and receive a three-month driving ban for reckless driving, The Straits Times reports. In September last year he had been driving hastily along the Central Expressway with his wife and sick daughter — they were on the way home after treatment at KK Women's and Children's Hospital.  Ng failed to keep a proper lookout ahead and rammed onto the back of an SBS Transit bus, which had been parked momentarily on the left lane of the slip road into Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.  Ng's one-and-a-half-year-old daughter died three days later, after the father made the hard decision to pull the plug on her life support. In court, it was revealed that his concentration was compromised on the day of the accident, as he was concerned for his wife — who was pregnant with their second child — and his sick daughter.  Ng also suffered major depressive disorder following his daughter's death.  He could have received a $1,000 fine and a six-month jail sentence.  Photo: Clayton Lai via Flickr
