Undergrad jailed for 15 weeks and fined $10k for donating HIV-positive bloodAn undergraduate had lied before donating blood, declaring that he had not had sex with another male before even though he had been in a regular sexual relationship with a male partner for two years, as well as a one night stand. The 23-year-old had pleaded guilty for making the false declaration back in 2012, The New Paper reports. He would have gotten away with it, but the blood he donated was found to be infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).  In court yesterday, District Judge Lim Keng Yeow stated that it was an irresponsible act to lie when questions are posed to potential blood donors, and that the innocent persons who depend on donated blood should never be placed in danger for it.  The undergraduate has since been sentenced to 15 weeks in prison and a fine of $10,000.  Photo: Brian S via Flickr
