The government will not allow redevelopment of LKY's house to diminish historical significancePlans are already being laid out for the Oxley Road house of Singapore's founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, of which the Urban Redevelopment Authority and the National Heritage Board have assured that their redevelopment will not be carried out in a way that would diminish its historical significance.  The Straits Times reports that the two agencies are taking Lee's wishes very seriously. He made it crystal clear in his will that his house at 38 Oxley Road has to be demolished after his death, or after his daughter moves out of the house. Currently, his daughter Dr. Lee Wei Ling is residing at the house, and thus there is no immediate issue on the demolition. If it does come to the day where Dr. Lee moves out of the house, the Government has stated that they will not allow the site to be redeveloped into trifle establishments such as commercial buildings and the such.  Photo: Zaobao via iProperty.com.sg
