Residents of Jurong Lake District will have something to look forward to at the latter half of the year when a disruption-free high-speed internet network goes live for trial in the neighbourhood.
The trial will involve all three telcos (Singtel, M1, Starhub) and internet service provider MyRepublic in the first phase for the heterogenous network (HetNet), new equipment will be installed in locations such as lifts, pedestrian walkways, bus interchange, and the MRT station.
How will this benefit fans of the internet? Het Net is believed to enable users to hop across 3G, 4G or WiFi networks during service disruptions or when surfing is slow on one network, says the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
This means seamless high-speed connectivity throughout commuting journeys, from MRT stations to walkways, to the lift and back home.
