With 21 walks and counting, these crowd-sourced, volunteer-led neighborhood tours are not your usual heritage-themed walks but "more like a walking conversation about neighbourhoods and how people use cities." Named after American urban activist Jane Jacobs (author of The Death And Life Of Great American Cities) and held annually during the first weekend in May, all the walks are for free, on a first-come, first-served basis. This year's interesting itineraries include "Burmese roads along Balestier" and "Dog Lovers Sunday Stroll" (both May 3), and "A Jog Through Green Urban Spaces: Tanjong Rhu to Gardens by the Bay" and "De Opium Hill Twilight Ramble" (both on May 1).
