Aside from his particularly odd fetish, 50-year-old Low Ji Qing is a serial criminal who has already spent 17 years of his life in prison, and has been in and out of jail since 1986 for theft — with his last sentence being 13 months back in March 2013.
In his latest criminal offence, he claimed to be frustrated over a dispute he had with his boss and stole a wallet and a mobile phone from an unattended woman's bag in VivoCity. This happened shortly after he was released from prison.
The spate of stealing women's wallets have been persistent with his official verification by the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), where he was diagnosed with fetishism on non-living objects, particularly women's wallets. To each his own, man.
Last August, while he was out on bail, he had also stolen a women's wallet from a handbag left in a trolley while shopping in Ikea Alexandra. A week later, he struck again at the same store, and was admitted to IMH again.
Low pleaded guilty to all three theft charges in December and was sentenced to a three-year jail sentence. That's three long years without the seductive texture of wallet leather and the sweet scent of the woman who held it.
