Good news uniformed personnel — taxi-booking app GrabTaxi is subsidising your rides for the next six months. No more waiting for crowded buses in far-off places where the camps are.
It's meant to be a little thank you by GrabTaxi and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), who are taking $3 off five trips until the end of September. Both existing GrabTaxi customers and new users will be able to utilise the discount.
The initiative will benefit the 70,000 active full-time national serviceman (NSF) and regular servicemen, who often depend on taxis to get to and fro their homes to their camps in far-flung areas of Singapore.
To access the subsidy, a special code will be provided at camps and through MINDEF mailers to regulars.
It is, however, odd that the subsidised rides aren't being spread to the folks serving in the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force — aren't they the ones who're actually facing real danger and helping people in their daily duties?
