Despite rising death tolls and gunfights in the streets of Yemen as well as the Singapore government urging them to leave immediately, over 40 Singaporeans still choose to remain in the war-torn country.
Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam has called upon the 40-odd Singaporean students, housewives and businessmen there to come back home and not put themselves at serious risk — any sort of rescue operation will become more difficult as the days go by in the conflict-ridden country.
A total of 25 Singaporeans have already left Yemen over the past two weeks, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already deployed a crisis response team in Oman, The New Paper reports.
