Notorious Singaporean paedophile Chan Chun Hong has been sentenced to jail for 56 months and fined $8,000 in court yesterday for multiple offences of child pornography and child sex-related charges, Channel NewsAsia reports.
The 31-year-old's activities as a commercial sex tour organiser were serious enough to garner the attention of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Chan was nabbed at Changi Airport in a sting operation last year when the FBI tipped off the Singapore police. The police had set up a decoy e-mail account to communicate with Chan, who then organised a trip to Cambodia to engage in child prostitution.
Other than making travel plans with the intention of facilitating commercial sex with minors, Chan also pleaded guilty to three counts of distributing information to promote commercial sex, seven counts of transmitting obscene materials by email, and one of possessing obscene films.
With the sentence, he is the first man in Singapore to be convicted of organising a commercial overseas sex tour.
