The Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) official aerobatics team the Black Knights were supposed to perform a 'missing man flyby' yesterday during the State Funeral procession for Lee Kuan Yew — but alas, nobody witnessed it.
Crowds had been anticipating the four F-16C jets to perform the aerial salute to honour the late statesman as the cortege drove pass Esplanade Bridge.
However, torrential rains and low visibility forced the Black Knights to perform the aerial flypast above cloud cover, says The Straits Times.
Rehearsal footage of the Black Knights performing the formation was captured and uploaded on Facebook by Jason Zhuo, showing what it would have looked like:
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));"Missing man" formation which u might have missed! Thank you Mr Lee!(Video shared by a friend)
