Post by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
"I have always benefited from my conversations with him. He is wise, and his knowledge of international affairs was boundless," Dr. Yudhoyono recalls about his interactions with the late politician.
He attributes Lee — one of the founders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) — as instrumental in the dramatic transformation of the region into a peaceful, dynamic community it has become today.
Dr. Yudhoyono held the Presidential office for 10 years since 2004, and noted Lee as one of his inspirations in his book Selalu Ada Pilihan (There is Always A Choice). "I consider Lee Kuan Yew a personal close friend and I know that he is a true friend of Indonesia".
