Crowds have started going in front of Istana's main gate to pen their tributes to Singapore's former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, who passed away this morning at Singapore General Hospital.
He was 91.
Condolence books have also been opened at all Overseas Missions for overseas Singaporeans and friends.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has declared a period of National Mourning from March 23 to 29. State flags on all Government buildings are flown at half-mast from today to Sunday.
A private family wake will be held from Monday to Tuesday at Sri Temasek, after which his body will lie in state at Parliament House from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 8pm, for the public to pay their respects.
A State Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on March 29 at the University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore. It will be attended by the late Mr Lee’s family, friends and staff, the President, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Old Guards, senior civil servants, grassroots leaders and Singaporeans from all walks of life.
A private cremation follows at Mandai Crematorium.
