In celebration of the nation's 50th birthday — and probably to compensate for the relentless onslaught of the SG50 branding — Singapore is getting a very welcome four-day weekend this National Day.
August 7, a Friday, has been declared a public holiday while August 9, a Sunday, will mean that the public holiday will fall the next day. Thus, it's a break from Friday to Monday.

According to The New Paper, special programmes have been prepared around the island during the holiday period, including events at Marina Bay, the Botanic Gardens along with the various museums and heritage galleries.
There'll also be special concessions of up to 50 percent at several attractions such as the Jurong Bird Park and facilities at Gardens by the Bay.
Also, there's free admission to public swimming pools and gyms during the National Day holidays, if you're into that.
