Misfortune just keeps hitting SMRT. Following several train service disruptions in the past few weeks, the Bukit Panjang LRT is now suspended indefinitely due to a power trip between Pending and Petir stations and fire breaking out at Senja station's plant room, both of which happened yesterday in the late afternoon.

Though initially promising to recover all train services by this morning, it seems that it will take more time before the commuters can utilise the Bukit Panjang LRT again. Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew himself has taken a personal interest in the incident, expressing his extreme concern on Facebook.

As of this morning, SMRT are still conducting test runs to ensure the safety and reliability of the system before commencing services. Meanwhile, free shuttle buses are being provided throughout the disruption. Those affected by the system failure can stay updated on the Land Transport Authority and SMRT's Facebook and Twitter pages.
