A new Singaporean record has been set, after more than 400 Ang Mo Kio GRC and Sengkang West residents formed the largest kompang ensemble.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the 425 residents made the Singapore Book of Records, breaking the previous number of 125 Tampines residents in 2014.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong graced the event as a guest-of-honour and participated in the activity, playing the kompang which bore a large SG50 logo sticker. Perhaps the picture of him will land up on the blog dedicated to the (over)use of the SG50 branding.
The event included other stage performances and family activities, and was organised to commemorate Singaporeans’ efforts in contributing to the country’s success over the past 50 years.
