Not wanting to rest on his laurels as one of The Guardian's top young talents in the world, 17-year-old Irfan Fandi is following closely in his father's footsteps by signing up in the S-League.
The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) confirmed that the eldest son of legendary national footballer Fandi Ahmad has joined the Courts Young Lions squad until June 30.
By entering the football league, this will enable him to be a part of the Under-23 National Team's preparations for this year's Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
“We are happy to have Irfan in the Courts Young Lions squad as he is a talented and up-and-coming young player," remarked Courts Young Lions head coach Aide Iskandar. "Irfan's inclusion means that I will have more options in both defence and attack as he can play in both positions."

Yesterday night, Irfan made his S-League debut against Tampines Rovers FC, playing in the defender position. Though his team went down in a 1-0 loss, he put up a satisfying performance according to Aide.
