Prominent political activist Han Hui Hui either has really huge cojones or gone barking mad — she turned up at the Supreme Court yesterday to file a judicial review application against the boss of legal bosses: the Attorney-General himself V. K. Rajah.
Channel News Asia reports that Han is challenging the "Blanket Refusal" to allow her from speaking or organising demonstrations at the Speakers' Corner.
Her dispute follows the cancelled approvals granted to Han last October, where she will be prohibited from further applications to utilise Hong Lim Park's Speakers' Corner until a police case against her was concluded.
The police case includes charges of public nuisance during the CPF protest fracas at the park last year, when she, along with fellow activist Roy Ngerng, allegedly led a large assembly of demonstrators to disrupt a neighbouring carnival organised by the YMCA.
According to The Online Citizen, Hui has filed a constitutional challenge on decisions which were intended to violate her constitutional rights. Initially represented by M. Ravi — who has been suspended from practice due to his medical conditions — she has till March 25 to appoint a new legal representative.
