What began as a minor traffic accident turned into a violent assault as a teenage motorist got punched hard by a middle-aged British man, who was the passenger of a taxi which got hit.
33-year-old Alan Benjamin Maybury was charged in court yesterday and had his passport impounded for punching 19-year-old student Lum Kwok Weng, leaving the teen with mild swelling and a small cut on his face, The New Paper reports. Maybury was also accused of spouting abusive expletives to berate the teen.
The accident had occurred in the early hours last November along South Buona Vista Road, where Lum crashed his mother's Toyota Camry into a Maybury's taxi.
If convicted for voluntarily causing hurt, he could be jailed for up to two years and/or fined up to $5,000.
