A 49-year-old man had been going around running multiple cases of rental scams, collecting deposits and fleeing with the money.
According to the Singapore Police Force, the man has since been arrested for his involvement in over 20 cases of rental scams.
After posting online advertisements for unit rentals in Singapore, he would arrange with his victims to view the unit before collecting advance payments and deposits ranging from $2,400 to $2,840. He would then remain uncontactable after that.
The man was arrested at Jalan Besar yesterday morning. Receipt books and files containing tenancy agreements were seized as evidence.
Investigations linked him to more than 20 counts of rental scams using flats at Mei Ling Street, Ghim Moh Road and Boon Lay Drive, Channel NewsAsia reports.
If convicted of cheating, he may be jailed for up to 10 years.
