Local football legends go head to head with young talents in SG50 exhibition matchesSingapore football fans were in for a treat yesterday evening — as part of the SG50 celebrations, more than 30 local legends strapped up their boots once again for a series of exhibition matches, Channel NewsAsia reports. A charity match kicked off the proceedings, pitting members of the media against each other, led by Football Association of Singapore (FAS) President Zainudin Nordin and former FAS president Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, to which the Singapore Press Holdings team won 2 -1. As the number of goals scored determined the amount of money raised to the appointed charity Jamiyah Children's Home, the match raised $3,000.  The second match of the night was a substantially more exciting affair, as local football icon Fandi Ahmad and his team of fellow veterans beat the ITE Management team 3 - 0.  The subsequent match saw ex-internationals from the 1990s to 2000s pitted against students from the H-TWO-O/ITE Ultimate Dream Team, to which the younger talents edged out in a penalty shoot-out after a 2 - 2 draw after full time.  Photo: Football Association of Singapore Facebook page
