Following the court order for blogger Roy Ngerng to pay $29,000 in legal costs to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the political activist has made the payments in cash after missing a number of deadlines.
The blogger made the payments in person as he visited the offices of Drew & Napier — the law firm representing the Prime Minister in the defamation suit — as his lawyer M. Ravi took on a hands off approach, citing that he was too occupied in setting up his new firm and hasn't been able to process the payments, The New Paper reports.
On several occasions, lawyers from Drew & Napier had to reject Ngerng's attempts to make payments directly as it required the approval of Ravi, who did not reply to the firm's enquiries.
Ngerng was finally able to make the payments last Friday when a representative from Ravi's law firm finally gave the approval.
Ravi and Ngerng have been noted to be at odds with each other, especially since a video of the lawyer ranting about his impulsive client has gone viral on social media.
