Since 2011, the historic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station has ceased operations as Keratapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) train services shift to Woodlands Train Checkpoint.
Now a national monument, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has announced that the picturesque, old-fashioned railway station will be open for visits on public holidays from Feb 20 onwards in the first initiative for their SG50 celebrations.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

SLA hopes that with this initiative, people will use the opportunity to visit the historical monument for strolls, take photos and immerse themselves in the various activities set to take place there.
Over the past few years, the station has been a popular venue for private events, ranging from pop-up restaurants to high-end fashion shows, product launches, and live music performances, including the 60th anniversary celebrations for Brit fashion line Fred Perry.
Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will be open to the public on the second day of the Lunar New Year on Feb 20, from 9am to 6pm.
