Ex-presidential elect Tan Kin Lian has responded to backlash about a Facebook post he made likening a bus filled with Indians to "Mumbai".
Hours afer the offending post was deleted, he finally apologised, specifically to his "local Indian friends who feel offended about (his) posting on the SMRT bus 857".
His excuse: "I was actually surprised to see the entire bus full of one nationality. This was the first time that I encountered this situation." "Sorry, if it was in bad taste," he wrote on the same social media platform yesterday. "I do not mean any disrespect to that nationality."
Mr. Tan also added that his apology was only meant for the "local Indian friends" and not to "IB dogs, racists, rude people and foreigners (who think they now own Singapore)".
