The ringleader of the 'Anonymous' vandals has been sentenced to two years in jail and three strokes of the cane yesterday.
Four men were accused of spray-painting slogans supporting the Anonymous hacktivist group ("We are one. We are legion. Expect us") at Sunshine Plaza along Prinsep Link in 2013, and the head of the offenders, 26-year-old Danial Ryan Salleh, pleaded guilty to the charges of vandalism along with having sex with a minor, grievously hurting a taxi driver and two counts of theft, Channel NewsAsia reports. Ten other charges were also taken into consideration.
In court, Danial told his accomplices that he received a call from someone claiming to an assistant to the leader of Anonymous, and directed him to spray-paint words in support of the group.
Two of Danial's accomplices were sentenced to two months in jail and three strokes of the cane last year for vandalism.
