A residential neighbourhood along Toa Payoh Lorong 1 must have woken up with a jolt when a fire broke out in a multi-storey carpark, causing a series of explosions in the wee hours of the morning.
According to Channel NewsAsia, three parked cars were involved in the raging fire around 3am in the morning of Jan 24 — the fire was believed to have started from one of the vehicles and spread itself to neighbouring cars. Firefighters from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes, with no casualties reported.
An eyewitness speaking to Channel NewsAsia reported hearing at least seven loud explosions during the incident. The SCDF are currently carrying out investigations into the cause of the fire.
